Maurycy Gomulicki / #library / Zamek Culture Centre, Poznań, 26.01-28.02.2016

What is the role of the library today? After all, we no longer believe that all available knowledge of the world can be gathered in one place. Are books and the vision of the world they convey becoming obsolete? Why does an electronic library have more borrowers than a traditional one? Can books be dangerous?

The exhibition #library, featuring seventeen Polish and international artists, asks questions about the status and the transformations of library from a present-day perspective. The hashtag attached to the title is both a sign of the times and a play on that signifier which enables grouping information; in a sense, it is a shelf mark thanks to which one can easily find their bearings amidst virtual resources
