Konrad Smoleński

b.1977, lives and works in Bern (CH) and Warsaw (PL).

Graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Poznań, member of the now-legendary Penerstwo art formation. Member of i.a. KOT, Kristen, and BNNT groups. Winner of the 2011 VIEWS competition of the Deutsche Bank Foundation; represented Poland at the 2013 Venice Art Biennale. Active in visual arts and sound for more than a decade. His art bases on the experience of the medium, exploring its capacity, and impact on the reception. Usually creates audio and video installations, performances, self-made objects and DIY instruments. His projects occasionally hints at the experimental, at opening up to the unforeseeable and the accidental; in other cases, they are fully conscious activities targeting an expressive reaction of the viewer.
